Box Truck: A box truck is a straight truck with an enclosed cargo box built onto the chassis, commonly 10 to 26 feet long, used for local, regional and expedited delivery.
Why it matters to owner operators
Box trucks suit smaller loads, final-mile and expedited work. Rates, weight limits and licensing vary, and many sizes under 26,001 pounds GVWR do not need a CDL.
Example
A box truck owner hauls appliances from a distribution center to several delivery addresses across a metro area.
